Energy Company Website

An energy company in Northern Europe was running its web presence on Sitecore 8.2 with manual delivery. RemSoft.Dev upgraded the platform to Sitecore 9.2, restructured it along Helix principles, implemented full Azure DevOps CI/CD and created a virtual machine so other developers could continue work continuously. The second phase built web and mobile versions of the customer account. The engagement ran for a year with a team of four - a senior developer, a DevOps engineer, PM and QA - on Azure Cloud. It is one of dozens of similar stores and portals RemSoft.Dev has prepared start to finish for clients in Europe and the US, including payment integration, CRM systems, GDPR compliance and Azure Cloud setup.

Key Challenges

Client: Energy company, Northern Europe

Duration: 1 year

Team: 4 - senior developer, DevOps engineer, PM, QA

Infrastructure: Azure Cloud

The project faced several key challenges:

  • Upgrading a live CMS: Sitecore major-version upgrades touch packages, compatibility, performance and every environment - with the public site live throughout.
  • Structure before features: Introducing a Helix architecture made later features cheaper, but had to be done without breaking existing renderings.
  • Continuous development by others: The client's own developers needed to keep working - hence the development VM and automated pipelines as deliverables.

Results

  • Sitecore 8.2 → 9.2 with Helix
  • Full Azure DevOps CI/CD
  • Developer VM for continuous work
  • Web + mobile customer account

8.2 → 9.2
